The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a warning for a severe thunderstorm in parts of northern Queensland, including Palmerville, Georgetown, and Gregory Springs.
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours,” according to the BOM website on Thursday afternoon.
The thunderstorm is expected to impact people in parts of Peninsula, Gulf Country, North Tropical Coast, Tablelands, Northern Goldfields, Upper Flinders, Herbert, and Lower Burdekin.
Musgrave, Palmerville, Georgetown, Einasleigh and Gregory Springs may also be affected.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) have advised that people should move their cars under cover or away from trees; secure loose outdoor items; never drive, walk, or ride through flood waters; seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees; avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm, and beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
