Moraine Police responded to a local DMAX plant on reports of an active shooter. Officers later discovered that at least one person died during the incident, while several others were injured.
UPDATE @ 12: a.m. May 19:
Moraine Police and Fire were dispatched to the DMAX plant, on Dryden Road, just after 9 p.m. on reports of an active shooter on its premises, Sgt. Andrew Parish with the police department stated in the late night press conference.
The active scene was confirmed to be over within few minutes of officers arriving.
During the shooting, a male suspect “targeted” two people and fired his weapon, Parish explained.
One of victims was a male who succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. However, the other victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital for further treatment.
After targeting the victims, the male suspect shot himself, but was not killed from the self-inflicted wound. As a result, the suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment.
There were other reported injuries; however, they were unrelated the shooting. Parish informed that the other injuries were sustained during the evacuation process.
Officials were unable to disclose if the shooting occurred inside or outside the plant’s building, but the incident was contained inside the business’s premises.
Moraine Police worked with the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit during the investigation. Employees were relieved of their duties with the plant remaining closed for the next several hours. Employees were also expected to be interviewed during the investigation.
Officials planned to hold another press conference Friday.
There were no active threats at this time, Parish said.
UPDATE @ 12:11 a.m. May 19:
A shooting victim was confirmed dead with another victim and suspect injured, Moraine police Sgt. Andrew Parish said in a late night press conference.
The suspect was injured from an apparent self-inflicted wound.
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the person dead in the shooting as the suspected shooter. That is incorrect. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the suspect and another victim were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to police.

INITIAL REPORT
At least one person, and perhaps a second, have been shot in what is being called an active shooter incident at the DMAX Ltd. plant on Dryden Road in Moraine.
There are several law enforcement agencies and medical units on scene.
A person who answered a phone call from News Center 7 said, “we don’t know. We’re stuck in the lab,” when asked what was going on there and hung up.

DMAX Ltd. is a subsidiary of General Motors. LLC. that employs approximately 800. The 540,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and 44,000 square-foot administration building, where Duramax diesel engines are built, opened in 1999. Production began in 2000.
