LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Los Angeles Leftists for Choice and Unity and a broad coalition of anti-mandate conservatives, liberals, libertarians, and others rallied outside LAPD headquarters on Nov. 30 to protest, demanding that LAPD Chief Michel Moore cease enforcement of the Los Angeles City Council’s vaccine mandate for city employees.

Government employees of Los Angeles must be vaccinated by Dec. 18 or risk losing their jobs, following a unanimous city council vote on Oct. 26. Before the deadline, employees who have not been fully vaccinated are required to take PCR tests at their own expense. Moore supported the mandate, saying that he wants “a fully vaccinated workforce.”

Moore fired five sworn department employees and one civilian employee on Nov. 23 for refusing to comply with the vaccine mandate.

Previously, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that 77 workers were on unpaid leave as of Nov. 17 after refusing to sign notices that required them to get COVID-19 vaccine, with an additional 700 employees at risk due to noncompliance.

Many expressed anger at these measures.

Ian Jameson, founder of Los Angeles Leftists for Choice and Unity, told Pezou that Moore has betrayed the constitutional rights of his officers and bowed to authoritarian bureaucrats on the Los Angeles City Council to further his own career.

“No government on earth has a right to trample any human being’s bodily autonomy,” he said.

“All the liberal media want to make this out to be a right-wing conspiracy theory,” Jameson continued. “I’m left. I am pretty far left. I stand in solidarity with the brave men and women of LAPD standing up for their constitutional rights by refusing to be vaccinated or submit proof of vaccination. And we’re telling Michael Moore you either need to support your officers and stand up against this totalitarianism or resign.”

He thinks that the COVID-19 vaccine is unsafe, as many adverse events and even post-vaccination deaths have been reported to the CDC’s VAERS system.

newly developed vaccines are investigational, experimental, and often lethal, Jameson emphasized.

latest data from CDC showed that the number of breakthrough infections, hospitalizations, and deaths has increased in recent months.

J.C. Graves, a liberal activist, told Pezou at the rally that he does not trust the COVID-19 vaccine.

“My sister had a stroke on the day of her very first COVID shot, a very serious stroke. And I’ve heard many other stories of injuries, deaths,” he said. “It’s very wrong in a free society to coerce people to get a vaccine to threaten, to take away their livelihoods and their jobs in order to be injected with a very leaky vaccine.”

Graves also mentioned that many Democrat politicians had made public speeches on various occasions, saying that the government cannot force individuals to be vaccinated. However, the current policy is just the opposite.

“It’s become a very fascist thing,” he said. “I absolutely despise what the Democratic Party is doing and getting behind these mandates. it’s enough to make me leave the party. I’ve been a lifelong Democrat.”

As early as Sept. 11, six LAPD officers filed a lawsuit against the city on the vaccine mandate, which they say violated employees’ constitutional rights to privacy and due process.

As of press time, Moore had not replied to Pezou’ request to comment on the protest.
