Encino Man, 60, Killed When Large Tree Topples Onto House

ENCINO, Calif.鈥擜 60-year-old man was killed when a large tree fell聽into a two-story house in Encino, authorities said Monday, Nov. 29.

Three occupants of the home escaped safely after the tree toppled onto聽the house at 5006 N. Odessa Ave. at 11:14 p.m. on Sunday, said Los Angeles Fire聽Department Firefighter Nicholas Prange.

Heavy rescue and urban search and rescue teams were summoned to the聽scene to free the fourth occupant, who was determined to have died, Prange said.

Those teams continued to work to free the body for the coroner, he聽said. Mayor’s Crisis Response Team was responding to the incident at the聽house.

victim was in the bedroom when the tree fell inside, Capt. Cody聽Weireter told reporters at the scene.
