Argument at Engagement Party Leads To Man’s Fatal Shooting

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—A man was shot to death during an argument with another man at a party in Northridge, and the suspect remained at large Sept. 5, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at about 11 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 19500 block of Parthenia Street, in the parking lot of a banquet hall where several hundred people were attending an engagement party, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 29-year-old victim, Edgar Rodriguez of Anaheim, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

The suspect fled, and homicide detectives from the police department’s Valley Bureau asked for the public’s help to locate him.

Investigators said Rodriguez, the suspect, and several other partygoers engaged in an altercation. The suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking Rodriguez multiple times in the upper body, according to the police.
