White House Working on Guidelines for States on Social Distancing Measures

The White House is working to soon publish guidelines to help state and local officials make decisions on either relaxing, maintaining, or increasing social distancing and other mitigation measures designed to stop the spread of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic. President Donald Trump announced the development in a letter sent to governors on March 26. The guidelines will be based on local testing for the CCP virus. OTTAWA鈥擳he Bank of Canada is cutting its key interest target聽by half a percentage point聽to 0.25 percent in an unscheduled rate announcement.

In a statement on its website, the聽central bank says聽its decision聽to lower rates聽is aimed at cushioning the economic shocks from COVID-19 and a sharp drop in oil prices by easing the cost of borrowing.

It adds that providing credit in the economy for businesses that need it should help lay the foundation for the economy鈥檚 return to normalcy.

The interest rate cut takes the key rate to what the central bank referred to as “its effective lower bound” or the lowest level that rates can be set.

The central bank is also launching two new programs. One will aim to alleviate strains in short-term funding markets, while the other will see the central bank begin acquiring federal government securities in the secondary market with a minimum of $5 billion per week.

The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the CCP virus because the Chinese Communist Party’s coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic. U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper outlined the plan in an interview with Reuters, saying that he wanted the military to keep providing broader data about infections in the armed forces, which rose by 30 percent to 227 cases on March 25. But Esper, a former Army secretary, said he wanted some of…
